The Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA) has officially launched land record and property transfer services tailored for overseas Pakistanis. This initiative is aimed at simplifying property management for Pakistanis living abroad while ensuring secure and efficient transactions.
Services Now Available for Overseas Pakistanis
According to the spokesperson of PLRA, overseas Pakistanis can now access a range of services, including:
- Record of Rights (Fard for Record) – Obtain official property ownership documents.
- Fard for Transactions/Sale – Secure documentation for property sale or transfer.
- Copy of Sanctioned Mutation – Verify changes made in land ownership records.
- E-Registration – Complete electronic registration of property transactions.
- Buyer & Seller Registration – Smooth registration process for property buyers and sellers.
Currently, these services have been formally launched in London, with plans to extend them in phases to Pakistanis living in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Spain, the United States, and Italy.
Simplifying Property Transfers for Overseas Pakistanis
Director General PLRA, Ikram-ul-Haq, highlighted that this system will make the property transfer process simple, transparent, and hassle-free. Key benefits include:
- Elimination of Power of Attorney – Overseas Pakistanis no longer need to authorize someone locally for property matters.
- Secure Biometric Verification – All documents will be verified directly through NADRA’s biometric system.
- Efficient Document Flow – After fee payment, the Sub-Registrar sends the registration task to an officer nominated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After verification, it is returned to the Sub-Registrar for completion.
Advantages of the New System
This initiative offers multiple benefits for overseas Pakistanis:
- No Travel Required – All services are available remotely, eliminating the need for in-person visits to Pakistan.
- Fraud Prevention – Electronic verification and biometric checks help reduce the risk of fraud.
- Time-Saving – Streamlined processes save both time and effort for property owners abroad.
Looking Ahead: Expansion to More Countries
PLRA plans to expand these services globally, making it easier for Pakistanis in major international locations to manage their property affairs. This move is expected to strengthen trust, transparency, and efficiency in the land record system while providing a modern solution for overseas citizens.
